Bike, Walk & Bus PAC
Endorsement Process & Timeline
2026 Election Cycle • Community-Centered • Transparent • Policy-Focused
Narrative Overview
The Bike, Walk & Bus PAC endorsement process is built around transparency, community voice, and a commitment to elevating leaders who champion safer and more equitable transportation across Washington, D.C. Our mission is centered on fostering a city where people can safely and comfortably move by biking, walking, and riding public transit.
Our multi-stage process incorporates public input, policy evaluation, candidate engagement, and thorough review of legislative commitments. By the time endorsements are announced, we seek to have an endorsement process that reflects deep community engagement and detailed candidate review.
While we will endorse in every DC Council and Mayoral race, this election cycle, the Bike, Walk & Bus PAC has chosen to focus our public forum and volunteer efforts on the Ward 1 and At-Large D.C. Council races. While we care deeply about transportation issues in every part of the District, we also recognize the importance of directing our energy where it can have the greatest possible impact.
Ward 1 and the At-Large seats are uniquely positioned to shape citywide transportation policy, especially around safe streets, bus priority, pedestrian safety, and investments in protected bike lane infrastructure. These races are expected to be highly competitive, and the candidates elected will have significant influence over whether D.C. moves boldly toward a safer, more equitable multimodal transportation system.
By focusing our volunteers, events, and endorsement process on these key races, we are ensuring that:
-
Our efforts are strategic and effective,
-
Our volunteers are deployed where they can make the biggest difference, and
-
We have a real opportunity to elevate transportation champions who can advance meaningful legislative and oversight improvements.
This doesn’t mean we are ignoring other races, it simply means we are concentrating our limited time and capacity on the places where our community-driven advocacy can be most powerful this year.
